Maustaja was issued the highest-level AA Certificate in a BRCGS audit

9.11.2022

BRCGS, or more commonly known as BRC, is a food safety certification based on international standards, which proves the competency of a company in terms of its HACCP system, hygiene, food safety and quality systems. In addition, it demonstrates the company’s commitment towards consumer safety and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

Maustaja is a partner providing proven reliability

Maustaja was awarded a BRCGS Food Safety  certificate with the highest possible grade level. The grade is determined according to the number and quality of deviations; there were only four this year. A company can use the BRC international standard to respond to even larger operators’ requirements with one globally accepted food safety management system.

Many major customers and shops require a demonstration of quality. An audit carried out by an independent operator verifies the quality in an unbiased manner. The BRC certificate is a trusted indication of implemented operations.

Comprehensive assessment process

The certification, which adheres to global standards, consists of the business operations’ different sub-areas, affecting product safety and produced quality.  The essential ones are management commitment and continuous improvement, HACCP system, assessment of personal operations, supplier approval, traceability, hygiene, food allergen management, training and personnel skills. In addition, other subjects of auditing include, for example, documentation, production facilities’ condition, foreign object management and laboratory operations.

Work expected in the future too

The highest level certification is an excellent acknowledgement of work well done, but it also requires continuous internal auditing and development work. Next year, the operations of the new snack factory shall also be audited against the BRC standard, so a lot of work involving the quality systems can be expected during the following year, says Jenni Ahlqvist, Quality Manager at Maustaja.
